Malfunction: There are currently problems with our hosting service provider IONOS, which is why RiskPlus is not working as usual. A partial network failure has led to a widespread outage of many services. Unfortunately, IONOS itself cannot provide any precise information on the time of the fault clearance and refers to to your own status page. We are in active dialogue with the service provider.

Data protection and operation

Security for your data

The drinking water supply is part of the critical infrastructure. Accordingly, data and process security are our top priority when it comes to risk documentation in accordance with the TrinkwEGV and TrinkwV. In terms of IT security and compliance, we adhere to the highest standards so that our customers do not have to make any compromises when it comes to data integration.

RiskPlus is operated in a partner's certified data centre. This centre implements security and compliance functions in accordance with the ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ISO 27017, ISO 27018, ISO 27701, ISO 22301, ISO 20000-1 and C5 standards.

Secure data processing and compliance in the drinking water supply

In this way, we ensure that your data is stored and processed exclusively within the European Economic Area. If further requirements arise from the adoption of the NIS 2 EU Directive into German law, these will of course be implemented subsequently.

Legal requirements

Drinking Water Ordinance and Drinking Water Catchment Areas Ordinance

The amended version of the Drinking Water Ordinance (Ordinance on the Quality of Water for Human Consumption, TrinkwV) adopted in June 2023 obliges operators of water supply systems to apply the risk-based approach. The Drinking Water Catchment Areas Ordinance (TrinkwEGV) adopted in December 2023 also makes risk management in the catchment areas of drinking water production plants mandatory. Risk management must be carried out at least in accordance with the generally recognised rules of technology. In particular, DIN EN 15975-2 and DVGW technical bulletins W 1001 and W 1004 can be used for this purpose.

RiskPlus not only supports you in fulfilling your legal obligations, but also in pursuing a risk-based approach to water supply. The aim of this approach is to prevent impairments to water quality and thus increase the security of supply. Risk assessment and risk management also support the targeted, efficient use of limited financial and human resources as well as internal and external communication. The introduction of the full risk-based approach in the Drinking Water Directive is intended to improve coherence with other European measures, such as the Water Framework Directive, and enable more efficient identification of potential sources of pollution in order to reduce risks and better target treatment and monitoring measures.

Operators of water extraction plants for drinking water use are obliged to carry out a health risk assessment for their catchment areas and the plants themselves. The deadline for submitting the documentation of the risk management in the catchment area and an investigation programme based on this to the responsible water authority is 12.11.2025. The documentation of the risk management for the water supply facilities and the investigation planning based on this must generally be submitted to the responsible health authority by 12.01.2029.

The documentation of the assessment of the drinking water catchment area must be submitted electronically to the competent authority and include the following content:

  • Determination and description of the catchment area
  • Results of the hazard analysis and risk assessment
  • Summary of the results of investigations already carried out
  • Proposal for any necessary adaptation of the examination programme
  • Information on risk management measures already implemented by the operator
  • If necessary, proposals for suitable risk management measures or their adaptation
  •

RiskPlus supports you in these steps with suggestions, simplified entries, automated calculations and customised import and export options.
