Over 350 water suppliers use RiskPlus to fulfil the TrinkwEGV delivery deadline

Zweckverband Wasser Abwasser Vogtland efficiently manages 59 catchment areas with RiskPlus

When the Drinking Water Catchment Areas Ordinance (TrinkwEGV) came into force, the Zweckverband Wasser Abwasser Vogtland was faced with a particular challenge: 59 drinking water catchment areas had to be assessed, documented and processed on time. For Ronny Röder, Head of the Drinking Water Department, it was immediately clear that the association needed a clear strategy - and a tool that could meet the high requirements.

Between urgency and responsibility

The initial situation was challenging: many catchment areas, little time and no room for delays. Complex tables, cumbersome workflows or parallel data storage would have unnecessarily slowed down the project. It was therefore clear to the team early on that only a software solution that would work efficiently and fulfil all technical requirements could be considered.

After examining various options, the decision was made in favour of RiskPlus. The intuitive interface, the logical structure and the immediately usable functions were immediately convincing - long familiarisation periods were not necessary.

High professional quality right from the start

From the outset, the special-purpose association worked closely with the health authority and the lower water authority. Professional quality and transparency had top priority.

It became apparent early on that protection zones were incomplete or not designated at all in several areas - in some cases even the entire protection zone III was missing. This is where RiskPlus showed one of its many strengths: The software enabled the simple import of shape files and the precise replication of missing zones. This meant that all catchment areas could be processed completely, consistently and in a technically reliable manner. All stored catalogues and automated evaluations could be used without restriction.

59 Catchment areas - an end-to-end digital process

RiskPlus then supported the entire evaluation process. Information was available automatically, evaluation paths were clearly structured and traceable at all times. The team was able to work quickly - much faster than initially expected.

The required documentation was created completely digitally, without media disruptions or scattered files. At the same time, the familiarisation process proved to be straightforward: The intuitive workflows gave the team confidence and enabled a quick start.

The originally expected effort was significantly reduced. Structured processes and automated steps made the project easy to manage. Efficiency and overview went hand in hand - a significant step forward for the special purpose association towards digital risk management.

Setting the course for the future

With RiskPlus, the special-purpose association was able to create all risk analyses securely and on time. More importantly, the organisation now has a digital basis that will make future adjustments much easier. Ronny Röder sees great potential for future risk analyses. Direct access to the software by the inspection authorities is also seen as the logical next step towards fully digital processes.

In the long term, RiskPlus is therefore much more than just a tool for implementing the Drinking Water Catchment Areas Ordinance. The solution marks a decisive development step: the entire process - from analysis to evaluation - now takes place digitally and forms the basis for modern, future-proof risk management. RiskPlus can also be a valuable aid for the future risk assessment of water treatment and distribution in accordance with the Drinking Water Ordinance.

„RiskPlus enabled us to quickly and efficiently process the risk assessments in accordance with the Catchment Area Ordinance.“
