All requirements of the TrinkwEGV can now be implemented digitally with RiskPlus
With the completion of the first risk analysis under the Drinking Water Catchment Area Ordinance (TrinkwEGV), many water suppliers are reaching an important milestone. However, the task does not end there: the risk analysis is not a static document, but requires maintenance, supplementation and updating over the years. New data is incorporated, and external circumstances – such as the construction of a new road on the edge of the drinking water catchment area – alter assessments. Those who approach this ongoing process in a structured manner from the outset will save themselves time-consuming rework later on and maintain a robust basis for decision-making at all times.
By 2027, water suppliers must provide well-founded responses to enquiries from the relevant authorities and document their decisions in a transparent manner. Furthermore, the first updates to the risk analyses are due by 2030 at the latest. Those who fail to manage information in a structured manner risk having to carry out the entire risk management process under the Drinking Water Ordinance (TrinkwEGV) all over again – based on the short-sighted assumption that “once it’s done, it’s done”. This not only wastes working time unnecessarily, but also jeopardises transparency vis-à-vis the authorities and the continuity of their own data set. With a consistently maintained database, however, water suppliers can meet these deadlines with confidence – without having to search for scattered information under time pressure.
RiskPlus is constantly tailored to meet precisely these requirements. In addition to providing support with the preparation of risk analyses, the focus is increasingly shifting towards day-to-day operations: RiskPlus helps water suppliers to maintain an overview of their data, document changes in a traceable manner and tackle future tasks efficiently. The management of analytical data – particularly over a longer period – provides important input for risk analysis. In RiskPlus, the test results are managed centrally and assigned to the relevant testing laboratories. The software thus not only ensures a consistent data foundation, but also provides an informative overview of the facts, including easily accessible visualisations. Deviations or trends can be easily identified. This enables a confident response to enquiries from the authorities.
Photos here, reports there: file storage can quickly become disorganised. To ensure that important documents are easily accessible to every employee, RiskPlus includes a centralised document management system. Plans, statements, maps, photos and other relevant documents are assigned directly to the respective properties and assessments, and can be found by anyone. This not only makes day-to-day work easier, but also ensures that information remains complete and traceable in the long term.
The water supply system is also increasingly coming into focus. New functions and enhancements, designed to meet statutory requirements and the practical needs of water suppliers, are being added to RiskPlus. The first features arising from the requirements of the Drinking Water Ordinance (TrinkwV) will be introduced shortly. The flow chart – at the heart of the system, showing explicit water flow relationships – and the creation of operator and plant master data will mark the start. Water suppliers will thus benefit at an early stage from a solution that evolves in line with legal requirements. This highlights a further advantage of working with RiskPlus on an ongoing basis: the risks associated with the catchment area do not suddenly become irrelevant once the water is handed over at the well. They are required as input for the supply system.
In this way, RiskPlus supports the entire risk assessment lifecycle – from data collection through day-to-day operations right through to future functionalities. Water suppliers can therefore make a one-off investment in a well-designed, comprehensive solution that will reliably support their risk management for years to come, from the catchment area right through to supply to the consumer.
RiskPlus is a software solution that enables you to carry out sound and meaningful risk management in accordance with the requirements of the TrinkwEGV and TrinkwV.
The web-based application ensures optimum co-operation between water suppliers and engineering offices as well as documentation adapted to future requirements for all responsible authorities.
