The Drinking Water Catchment Areas Ordinance - opportunity or „toothless paper tiger“?

Since the introduction of the amended Drinking Water Ordinance (TrinkwV) and the new Drinking Water Catchment Areas Ordinance (TrinkwEGV), the risk-based approach has been intensively discussed. The idea is not really new - the European standard for this dates back to 2013 - and there are now a number of successful examples of its implementation in practice. With the right measures and a suitable software solution, the requirements of the regulation offer the opportunity to provide real added value for the protection of drinking water resources and not just cause „annoying paperwork“.
